The Portland Timbers were unable to overcome the Houston Dynamo in Texas Saturday, dropping a 3-1 decision. Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi did combine for a goal for Portland, who will return to the field in a week to take on Toronto FC. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match.
28 With the assist, Diego Valeri broke out of a tie with Clyde Best for fourth-place on the Timbers career assist chart with 28. In his third match of the season, Valeri was able to deliver his first assist of the season, after scoring his first goal of 2015 in the club's last match against Montreal.
4 After scoring in the second half against Houston, Fanendo Adi leads the club in goals scored this season with four. In his 35 games with the Timbers, Adi now has 13 goals which is also the most for any Timbers player in that span.
56.5 Despite maintaining 56.5 percent possession, Portland was unable to secure any points at BBVA Compass Stadium. In addition to a large possession edge, Portland also completed 80 percent of their passes for the match. It was the sixth consecutive match, the club has completed at least 80 percent of passes attempted.
