PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Sebastián Blanco was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 24, the league announced today.
Blanco helped the Timbers earn three points on the road against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sept. 10 when he helped create the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of the match. This season, Blanco has scored two goals and tallied two assists, making 14 appearances for Portland. This is Blanco’s first MLS Team of the Week selection of the 2021 campaign.
Friday’s match was Portland’s third consecutive shutout win on the road, concluding a five-game stretch on the road, earning 10 points with three victories and a draw. During the stretch, Blanco recorded the opening goal of a 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field on Aug. 29.
The Timbers are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 15, playing host to the Colorado Rapids at Providence Park. The midweek clash kicks off at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific) and will feature a local broadcast on ROOT Sports with radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
