MLS goalkeepers wasted no time bringing out their best in 2014, as opening weekend featured a number of jaw-dropping stops.
Matt Reis may be coaching 'keepers now, but his protege in New England, Bobby Shuttleworth, certainly disappoint, reaching high to tip Houston midfielder Andrew Driver's curling effort over the bar. Meanwhile, out in Portland, Timbers' netminder Donovan Ricketts dropped low to deny Union Designated Player Cristian Maidana.
Down the coast, LA Galaxy 'keeper Jaime Penedo showed off his reflexes during Saturday's 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake, sticking out a paw to push away Joao Plata's near-post blast. RSL's hard-earned win would not have been possible without the heroics of Nick Rimando, who saved Robbie Keane's late penalty kick.
Finally, the Chicago Fire's Sean Johnson earned his place on the list by keeping a dipping Mauro Rosales free kick out of the top corner in the weekend's final match.
