PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite out-shooting their opponents by a 23-6 margin and controlling much of the run of play, the Portland Timbers lost 1-0 to D.C. United Sunday afternoon at Providence Park.

8' - CHANCE (POR) - On an early Portland corner kick, midfielder Diego Valeri sent an out-swinging ball towards the penalty area. Defender Bill Tuiloma jumped and headed a shot over the bar.
16' - POST (POR) - Timbers defender Claude Dielna sent a beautiful ball forward to Jorge Moreira on the right side. Moreira took a touch before sending a ball into the middle that Valeri headed down but off the left post and away.
25' - OWN GOAL (DC) - United took a 1-0 lead against the run of play when a cross from Ulises Segura deflected off a sliding Tuiloma and into the back of the Portland net.
38' - SAVE (POR) - On a D.C. corner kick into the mixer, a loose United shot was kicked away on the line by Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson.
50' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Portland throw-in, Moreira tossed the ball to Diego Chara who tapped it back to Moreira. Moreira then lofted a ball towards the back post that clanged off the crossbar.
60' - CHANCE (POR) - Williamson, with a bit of space outside the D.C. box, let fly with a shot that deflected off a United defender but goalkeeper Bill Hamid dove to his right to make a save.
64' - CHANCE (POR) - Valeri, near the left corner of the United box, hit a hard shot that forced Hamid to punch down and clear.
75' - CHANCE (POR) - Marvin LorÃa, about 35 yards from goal, hit a ball over the towards the right post where Tuiloma had snuck into an open position. Tuiloma's header flashed just wide right of the post.
82' - SAVE (POR) - D.C.'s Paul Arriola got free on a through ball and hammered a shot that Timbers goalkeeper Steve Clark pushed off the near post.
