The Storyline

Colorado Rapids (4th in West, 2-0-2, 8pts) vs Portland Timbers (12th in West, 1-2-1, 4pts)

Last Sunday's matinee left plenty to talk about. On the field, Felipe Mora tallied his first goal of 2025 – and 40th in his Green and Gold career – scoring in the 49th minute against the Galaxy. He joins David Da Costa – who earned an assist on Sunday – and Antony as the goalscorers for Portland through four games thus far. Following the match head coach Phil Neville reiterated that the team had to be more ruthless moving forward. Saturday they get to have a go at one of the top teams in the West.

Moving on from the dramatic 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy at Providence Park, Portland's next challenge lies at DICK's Sporting Goods Park where an undefeated Colorado Rapids awaits. Through four games, the Rapids have two wins and two draws, and are currently riding a two-game win streak. Designated Player forward Rafael Navarro has been productive to start the campaign, already netting three goals, and midfielder Oliver Larraz leads the way in assists with two over their four starts. Usual starting Goalkeeper Zack Steffen has been a force between the sticks with two cleansheets to go along with 21 total saves since the start of the season, however he will be out due to national team duties. In his place will be Adam Beaudry, making his first start of the season.
